Scores for Saturday 1 August 2020
Thankfully today was not as hot as yesterday, the 3rd
hottest day on record apparently. Sunshine was promised and delivered but a
good covering of cloud helped to keep the temperature to a more tolerable 20
something degrees.
The warm weather suited some more than others today with
scoring generally better than last week, average today was 30.75 points.
Some new pin gadgets to contend with today and only one reported
bounce off I think they’ll work ok once we got used to them. Roger Gibbs,
normally a mild mannered type of chap, was provoked into uttering expletives on
the 15th as a result of this but he also confessed it was his worst
round since coming out of lockdown.
The golf scoring app let me down today, seems I need to figure
out how to make sure others can update the sheet. Hopefully we’ll get it back on
track next week.
Birdies today for Paul Gardner (10) Duncan Miller (2 and 10)
James Miller (12) and Roger Gibbs (18)
Our winner today, Duncan, started well with a par on 1 which
is normally a bad omen. Today it looked like this trend would continue as
despite a birdie on 2, he went on to blob 3, 4 and 9 to post 14 points on the
front 9. It’s a game of two halves and Duncan bounced back with a gross score
of 36, one over par, netting 23 points to bring his total to 37 points. Well
done Duncan, a super back 9.
In second place is John James with 36 points. John’s golf
has been in the doldrums of late but a solid net par score gives John the
silver medal. Well done John.
The front 9 went to Steve Reynolds with 19 points. Steve,
good to see you in the prizes but I’m getting concerned that you’ve fallen out
of love with 2nd place. Well done Steve.
