Week 4 of Lockdown II, we're back out next week gentlemen!! We take a trip back to a few months before the Covid madness started. It was very wet last year but I recall we had a cold spell at the end of November and seems we had some frost to contend with. Andy was out injured, Martin was planning a pre-Christmas trip to Brighton and Paul and I were already looking forward to Summer League. Enjoy the report gents and see you next Saturday (or sooner!) The report Stop press…. It seems that there has been a mistake in the order of merit for this week. I suspect foul due to the Steve “the bridesmaid” Reynolds being unhappy about Martin’s continued success as he marked him as 4/2 rather than 4/3 on the 11 th hole today. This changes the order of merit at the top to make me the bridesmaid for this week. Now, I had planned to do a special feature on Brian “The Legend” Geddes this week, I took my notepad into my nice hot bath this afternoon and spent 20 minutes reviewing each of the sh

The 3rd weekend of lockdown II and I've chosen November 2018 for this week's look back. This report saw the return of Steve Reynolds after a short period in the wilderness and Pete Laurence was recovering from his stretch operation. Of course Tony well into his "Lucky is a winner" campaign so I've included the exchange between Paul and I at the end of the report. Hopefully everyone is coping with the golfing furlough and finding ways to stay fit and healthy during this miserable period of an already miserable year. Only one more weekend to go before hopefully we're allowed out. Hang on in there gents and Enjoy reliving a past round. The report  Before we get down to business this week, a few call-outs.  Firstly, welcome back to Steve Reynolds. Time off for good behaviour meant that he was able to re-join the club before the end of the year! Steve re-joins with a club handicap of 12. Next, it was great to hear from Robert Landau this week and we look forwar

Week 2 of lockdown 2. This week I've trawled the archives to pull out one of my early reports. You'll notice that the technology has changed somewhat since then an so has the scoring. For instance in 2017 at this late stage of the season, James had only got 9/18 birdies and Pete Laurence was joint top in the eclectic gross with a score of 62 points! My handicap was 29 and Jock was off 8! Oh, and our South African friend was winning everything! Well, a lot of water under the bridge since those simpler times. Only three more weeks to go chaps, hang on in there! The report Congratulations to Coenraad who wins again!  Congratulations to Keith Rowden – Consistency was what mattered in what were awful playing conditions this week and who is more consistent than Keith? Ok, Coenraad is but he didn’t play! Keith only just snuck ahead of James on countback, James takes second place with 29 points. Martin takes the front 9 on another countback with Andy Simpkin – Congratulations to th

As there is no golf this weekend gentlemen, I thought I'd dig into the archives and see what we were doing this year. I note from my report that I may've been an early carrier of the Covid virus (who knows!) Enjoy a blast from the past.... Report originally sent 29 October 2019 @ 09:35 Apologies for the late report gents but I’ve been a bit ill since the weekend with man flu. This could perhaps explain the atrocious round that I had on Saturday but then the illness could be a result of the round! Well, despite the expectation of requiring 5 tee times we fell short this week again and only managed to muster enough for 4 tee times. Fortunately this was not too controversial as the earlier group only managed 2 players this week. I see that Roger has been working hard to accommodate the Rugby this coming weekend in anticipation of a low turnout, thanks Roger your efforts are appreciated. Onto the scores. Our winner this week predicted his victory at the start of the day, he muttere
