Sunshine all the way today and the time for the legs to come out.  Fine sunny conditions on the golf course this morning with a brisk easterly wind to remind us that it's technically still winter! We started the weekend with potential for controversy with our competition master, on one of his very rare posts on WhatsApp, suggesting we should perhaps abandon the rules of the game in favour of having fun. Well, the early group were having none of it and voted 3 to 0 that we should play by the actual rules of golf. This wasn't to help us at all but I will sleep easy tonight knowing that no matter how bad the rules make your round seem on paper, there is always someone worse off than yourself.   A little cold and more than a little windy this week but I think we were happy to have the course open and to be out playing. The course was wet and muddy and the wind was a big hinderance on some of the more exposed holes. This didn't stop all but two players scoring less than 100 today with an average score of 91.8 and average stableford score of 30.92.  According to an unnamed source, the wind helped Roger Small to slice first and second ball into the woods off the first tee today. This didn't stop Roger giving some advice to James Miller on the 5th when he was having trouble chipping on. It would appear from the score that Roger's advice didn't help on 5 but inspire James to pars on the next two holes. The inspiration continued on the back 9 where on the 12th James hit the ball into the hedge and received a "lucky" bounce out (10 yards back) then proceeded to get over the hedge and up and down for Par!  Birdies today for Steve Reynolds (5,6) James Miller
