As we come to terms with the latest chapter in UK PLC with yet another new government and prospects of yet more financial chaos, we take to the golf course with the feel of autumn in the air.  Yes, we're officially past the autumnal equinox and winter is coming! Single figure temperatures to start the day to day and a light but very northerly breeze to keep us company. The course continues to recover well following the drought and I'm sure we'll be squelching around before too long.  We had a light turnout again today with just 10 players making up the field. Scores were slightly better than last week but average stableford and gross scores were at 29.3 and 93.4 respectively, far from our best.  Birdies today for Steve Reynolds (17) James Miller (16) Duncan Miller (3 and 10) and Brian (9) Well done all. Duncan's birdie was very nearly an eagle from the rough on the right side of the fairway. A spectacular shot left him about 2 inches from the hole, so close he couldn&

Apologies all for the late late posting of this report but last weekend I was on a golf tour en France and have only just had a chance to sit down and look at how things went last weekend.  I have had no input from the players this weekend so I'm going entirely on the score card so apologies for any poetic license I'm taking herein.  The weather (according to the forecast) was fair with a light to moderate northerly wind if memory serves and reports elsewhere indicate that the course is recovering well thanks to recent rains and continuing sunshine. Hopefully the sunshine will remain long enough for us to enjoy an indian summer this year? I'm sure the autumn gales will be as challenging as ever so let's make hay as they say. The scoring this week was  below average with a Stableford average of 28.11 and gross of 94.3 for the 9 players that were able to make it out.  Only one birdie this week from Richard Hyne on 8, well done Richard.  Our winner this week was Richard Hy

Perfect conditions for golf! A more receptive and recovering course thanks to recent rainfall, light winds and a comfortable low 20s made for a great day of golf.  A big thanks to James for his help in coming second in the Greensomes competition yesterday at the LME GA Captains day at Woking golf club, his often spectacular drives saved me taking extra shots which helped with recovery before today's round.  Starting early definitely worked for our small advance party with an average score of 37.6 between the three of us! The scoring today was probably the best I've seen since I started covering the Early Birds swindle. All but two players broke through the 30 point barrier today bringing the stableford average up to 34.21 and the average gross score was also well down at 90.1. I think these may both be records! Birdies today for Duncan Miller (5, 10 and 15! ) Brian Geddes (9 and 16) Richard Hyne (11) and Roger Small (9) Well done all, a nice bag of birdies! Duncan Miller is o
