Of all the things to complain about, sunshine shouldn't be one of them. However on the first few holes it made seeing and following balls really difficult and slowed down play quite a bit. Added to this, the roping on the second hole is going a bit far IMHO. Still, it was a beautiful day and it was a pleasure to be out on the course. On the first tee Richard suggested that he was looking more like Santa every day. I mention this because you'd expect Santa to be of a cheery disposition but it stands to reason that as he approaches his busiest time of the year he's bound to be feeling a bit less than festive. Richard stayed in character for the whole round cheering us all up with his laughs and smiles, his carefree demeanour and his excellent banter. For those of us that prefer to listen to audio books than read I should probably point out that this is an example of irony for sadly Richard was a grumpy old grinch. Ok so this week it was a little bit wet but we were pleased to be able to get on the course and pleased that we had enough people for it to matter in POTY/RTDB terms. Roger Gibbs sadly couldn't make it to take advantage of a rare course opening in the wet but I know he'll be happy that we were able to get wet and muddy. It was a little challenging out there although looking at the winter league scores for the day I think that those going out later didn't find it nearly as tough as the early birds.   With only 8 players, the averages are a little skewed but the average gross was down at 91.1 and the average stableford was just a touch below 30 at 29.38 so not too bad.  4 birdies this week. James (7) Peter Creighton (11) Duncan Miller (16) and Brian (9). Well done all. My birdie is worth a mention as I chose to drive off the tee putting myself within 80 yards, my wedge shot came up just short of the green so I chose to put from the rough. I blasted it straight at the pin and

It was so close to happening on the 18th hole today. Jock approached the lake having hit his ball in near the edge, he placed his clubs down behind him on the slope, they fell over and he very nearly did too. Thankfully he still has excellent core strength and was able to regain his balance. Andy was approaching with his ball retriever and uttered "I have a ball retriever, not a Jock retriever." I'm sure you'll all agree this was particularly funny by Andy's standard! It was a wonderful morning for a hike around Aldwickbury. With light winds and blue skies and around 7-8 degrees what better place to be on a Saturday morning. Of course the leaves and the low sunshine make for a bit of ball hunting and we lost a few this morning.  The scoring wasn't so good today, maybe because of these two factors. The range from first to last was 17 points with Tony seriously concerned that he was in danger of besting Andy's worst score which it took him until the 14th t
