Ok so this week it was a little bit wet but we were pleased to be able to get on the course and pleased that we had enough people for it to matter in POTY/RTDB terms. Roger Gibbs sadly couldn't make it to take advantage of a rare course opening in the wet but I know he'll be happy that we were able to get wet and muddy.

It was a little challenging out there although looking at the winter league scores for the day I think that those going out later didn't find it nearly as tough as the early birds.

With only 8 players, the averages are a little skewed but the average gross was down at 91.1 and the average stableford was just a touch below 30 at 29.38 so not too bad.

4 birdies this week. James (7) Peter Creighton (11) Duncan Miller (16) and Brian (9). Well done all.

My birdie is worth a mention as I chose to drive off the tee putting myself within 80 yards, my wedge shot came up just short of the green so I chose to put from the rough. I blasted it straight at the pin and in for 3. I think it may've gone through the green had it not gone down. Happy days as it put me within a point of Andy's lowest score which at this stage was my target on a terrible front 9.

Our winner this week with 34 points is James. James needed 1 point on the last to avoid losing on countback. Duncan explained to him that he only needed one point as he teed off on a hole which has been his nemesis this year. James was feeling confident as he reached the green in regulation but proceeded to 3 put, doing his best to put himself under pressure. He steadied himself and managed to get the point and victory was secured. Well done James.

In second place was Andy Simpkin with 33 points. Andy would be well advised to leave the driver at home as his 7 iron is currently going further. His irons helped him round and he managed a steady 16/17 playing some of his best golf for a while. Well done Andy.

Duncan Miller secured his first point of the season by taking the front 9. He celebrated Reynolds missing his chance for par on the 9th to avoid losing on countback, much like James on 18. Duncan could go on to get into the top half of the table with a few wins but he's not helping himself by missing a few sessions over coming weeks. Well done Duncan, good to see you off the mark.

The back 9 went to Pater Creighton with 16 points. A popular score for winning the back 9 Pete, well done!

Worth a mention that Steve Reynolds is living up to his bridesmaid status this week. He was pipped to the front 9 missing out to Duncan. He was pipped to the back 9 missing out to Peter. He was pipped to second place by Andy and as James has leapfrogged him he is sitting second in second place for both the POTY and the RTDB.

6 more weeks to go until the end of the year, that's 4 more chances to score points given the Turkey Trot and the Christmas Cup. James Miller is in the driving seat but it's all to play for as anyone from Pete Creighton up in the POTY could win it mathematically. Cheers all, here's hoping for some drier weather in the remaining weeks of the year.
