Scores for Saturday 18 October 2025
Weather today was good no rain, no wind, course lookin excellent, another week or so and the new bunkers should be in play.
Two injured or unwell players didn't make it so get well soon to John and Stevie B.
The fairway definition is much better however between the fairway and the thick rough the edges have been cut with two opposingly cut 1metre wide strips. These make the actual fairways very narrow in places, players are also not sure if these strips are still fairway, I believe not but we could do with some clarification from the club as we currently have pick and place in action, does that include these strips?
A good day for birdies with 10 in total, hole 14 in its new configuration, giving away seven pars from the 14 players. Martin L putted in from off the green in the dip on hole 2 for a great birdie. Peter C and Paul making birdies on the 17th, Peter C's was further than Paul's.
Although Tony managed to win on Monday by parking in the low handicap parking slot it didn't work for Paul on Tuesday neither did it work for Steve R today. I think its magic has worn off.
Paul was persuaded to play in the Monthly medal by Martin and Peter C and proceeded to play one of his worst games ever expletives were the name of the game for him today. From Steve's report James also had an expletive riddled game and not to miss out, the normally clean mouthed Roger G could be heard shouting various obscenities after his tee shot on the 13th.
Peter C and Martin both had a great round going as they battled for the lead in the swindle and the medal. Martin managed to secure second place in the medal, well done Martin. Peter C managed to take the money today with a great 38 points, well done Peter. Richard managed a good second place with 36 points on count back from Martin L, Richard had the best gross of the day with 82,
Richard now tops the Race to De Bar on £44 with Jock at the top of the Player of the year on 24 points with two player snapping at his heals.
Stories from the Course
Reporter Steve Reynolds
"On the first tee, Jason generously declared that James, Peter and I were the feature group. And this proved to be true - if the feature was awful golf! Possibly the most awful aspect was James's chip shots, which was entertaining as always. These were often followed by clubs and swear words flying through the air! 😀
On 17 James was on the left side of the green after 2. He then thinned it over towards the 16th tee, duffed it in the bunker and then smacked it back to the left side of the green again, much to the sniggering delight of his playing partners ðŸ¤
It's always fun to play golf with James 'Chippy' Miller!"
Reporter Jock Hunter
"I had to make a bolt from the first tee to the loo and back again. Made it in time but had a triple"
Reporter Jason Landau
"Not sure what was going on with Coenraad and his mobile phone, he told us he was entering the scores, but I think he was busy on Tinder!!!"
