From the archives - Saturday 26 October 2019
As there is no golf this weekend gentlemen, I thought I'd dig into the archives and see what we were doing this year. I note from my report that I may've been an early carrier of the Covid virus (who knows!) Enjoy a blast from the past....

Apologies for the late report gents but I’ve been a bit ill since the weekend with man flu. This could perhaps explain the atrocious round that I had on Saturday but then the illness could be a result of the round!
Well, despite the expectation of requiring 5 tee times we fell short this week again and only managed to muster enough for 4 tee times. Fortunately this was not too controversial as the earlier group only managed 2 players this week. I see that Roger has been working hard to accommodate the Rugby this coming weekend in anticipation of a low turnout, thanks Roger your efforts are appreciated.
Onto the scores.
Our winner this week predicted his victory at the start of the day, he muttered something about wanting to go out in a later group so as to minimise the wait between finishing his round and collecting his winnings. He managed to collect the winnings with a score of 35, not 36 as marked on the card. “He should be DQ’d” I here you say Tony and I would agree but for the fact that historically we’ve accepted incorrectly marked scores providing they don’t impact the outcome. Well done Steve on your prediction and your win. The rest will be pleased to know that Steve’s current run of form is likely to come to an abrupt end after this weekend as two games a week will be curtailed now that his partner is available on Sundays.
James managed second place with 34 points including a couple of birdies on the back 9 including the elusive 12th hole. Only 4 more for a full-house James, remarkable! Well done James.
Tony won the front 9 with 17 points, a very good score in the conditions. Well done Tony.
Roger Small won the back 9, recovering from a terrible front 9 to score net par on the back 9. Roger receives 0.1 shots back due the overall score being 3 shots below the average for the day, if the front 9 and back 9 were reversed I may have suspected a case of handicap management! Well done Roger.
Steve is within £16 of James on the Race to De Bar rankings. Steve has now exceeded James in terms of winnings but James’ win ratio keeps him in front. Steve is also within a point in the POTY table now although it’s very tight with only 5 points between 1st and 4th place.
Enjoy the rest of the week gentlemen and I’ll hopefully see you for a later start on Saturday.
