Scores for Saturday 19 December 2020
"Oh Pooh!" said Coenraad
"What's wrong Coenraad?" said Pooh
"My Umbrella you stupid bear!" said Coenraad
"Don't know about Antipodean, Anti-social more like!!" exclaimed Pooh
"This is fun!" yelled Tigger gleefully
"No it isn't" screamed Piglet, holding on for dear life
Yes it was rather a blustery day and from what I could see as I came out of the Sauna this morning it was a very wet a windy morning, not ideal conditions for a game of golf.
I stayed away this week due to my unfortunate mishap in the week. Feels much better each day although the pain can be a bit tedious still. At times I was rather happy to be signed off this week. I assume that Tony wasn't feeling so lucky today and decided to stay at home.
The "Pooh" allegory above refers of course to Coenraad chasing his umbrella across the 4th and 5th fairways this morning, would have paid to see that Coenraad! Thanks to the anonymous tip from an eye witness who I would mention were it not for the reporters code!
Another story of the day is a continuation of the story of last weeks shortest (on average) driver, Roger Small. The quote I have is "Roger failed to make the ladies tee so many times this round that he may consider becoming a nudist" - I assume that refers to how many times Roger was required to drop his trousers! Well done Roger.
Jock still has some prizes from last week to distribute but couldn't be arsed waiting around for the slower groups behind, he'll keep bringing them in until they're gone I guess.
Average score this week 29.2, lower than normal but not really surprising in the conditions.
Birdies this week for Roger Gibbs (3) James (5 and 11) and Steve Reynolds (9) well done guys.
The winner this week with 38 points is Duncan Miller. Duncan was obviously making the most of this being the last game of the year and switching off the handicap limiter feature on his clubs. Well done Duncan.
In second place let's hear it for Andy Simpkin..... no? ok then! Andy managed to beat Martin Lythgoe on countback with a modest 33 points. Well done Andy.
Front 9 was taken by Roger Gibbs who only half imagined himself winning last night in the imaginarium! Well done Roger!
Finally Paul "the Champ" Gardner took the back 9 with 19 and was overall 5th despite only managing 12 on the front 9. Well done Paul!
It's looking like there will not be an official swindle next weekend so I will review the end of year standings and prepare a special report to be issued on 2 January when I suggest we do a virtual call for the end of year awards ceremony on 2 January after the first game of the year.
Have a fantastic Christmas and a very Happy New Year gents
