Scores for Saturday 5 December 2020
A cold fine morning and a good turnout to shake off the lockdown blues. The course was a little soggy after many days of rain but the fairways and greens were in generally excellent condition thanks to being on furlough for 4 weeks.
3 early birds regular slots achieved by the bookers last week and a late slot. Lucky Tony was not feeling lucky at the prospect of having a lie-in and it sounds in the end like they were lucky to finish the round before dark. Maybe put yourself forward for booking Tony, you have 2/3 success rate so far which is in the top half of the table.
Now to the golf.
Scoring was generally very good this week with an average score of 31.31 and only 4 players under 30 points. Obviously the Early Birds find playing off the yellow tees preferable.
Pete C gets a shout out today for the shortest drive on the 8th. Thanks to Lucky Tone for the pic.
Birdies this week for Martin Lythgoe (9th) Roger Gibbs (5th) Peter Creighton (1st) Lucky Tone (17th) James Miller (9th) and Steve Reynolds (18th) Well done all!
Our winner this week is Martin Lythgoe with 36 points. Consistent scoring from Martin with 19 on the front 9 and 17 on the back 9. Clearly the late start favoured Martin, allowing him to get an extra couple of hours beauty sleep! Well done Martin.
In second place on count back from Andy Simpkin courtesy of 3 points for each of the last 3 holes is Roger Small. Roger started slow and steady and picked it up on the back 9 which is pretty much the opposite of what Andy did (16/19 vs 20/15.) Well done Roger.
The front 9 went to Andy with 20 points courtesy of 4 pars. Well done Andy.
The back 9 went to Roger Gibbs with 21 points (5 pars, 3 bogies and one double) well done Roger!
The Christmas cup next week, I'm sure Jock will be in touch with further details but I understand that we have 5 tee times from 08:20. Have a great week guys and welcome back!
Thanks, Brian. See you next week!
