Scores for Saturday 31 July 2021
We dodged the weather again this week, as I write this brief report the sun has gone away and it's looking very much the rain is coming. A pleasant morning with moderate breeze made for another excellent day on the golf course.
Firstly I'd like to apologise for the mix-up with the scoring this morning. I honestly woke up and had a mare, with the fat finger issue on the booking AND forgetting to update the score sheets with the correct golfers. Anyway, it didn't impact my golf, more of that later.
The bridesmaid posted the pic below on the WhatsApp this morning demonstrating how to use your driver as a spade! There were complaints from golfers following that they lost their balls down the hole that Steve left behind on the tee box. I'm assuming you didn't get past the ladies tee SR?
Birdies today for yours truly (14) Steve Reynolds (8 and 16) Richard Hyne (6) Coenraad Fourie (1) Roger Gibbs (3) Roger Small (3) and Pete Laurence (3) Well done all!
Summer league today and I picked up where I left off last week. Of course, last week we only managed an average of 20.5 for the SL as I was the only one posting a score. This week our average was up to 37 points as Martin Deery didn't post.
Yes my 41 points was enough to take 1st place and my gross score of 87 matches my best swindle round to date. Well done me! Andy kindly pointed out (whining) that I won with 3 pars and 1 birdie and a bunch of bogies but I would point out that my gross score was still bested his by 7 shots, suck it Simpkin!
Steve Reynolds returned to the fold this week and returned to his customary second place with 35 points on countback from Richard Hyne courtesy of his birdie on 16. Well done Steve!
Coenraad Fourie takes the front 9 with 21 points, proving that 20 points (Richard) is just not enough to take the front 9 these days. Well done Coenraad!
Andy will be please to note that 17 was enough to take the back 9. Well done Andy!
You'll be pleased to know that I am not playing next week so enjoy and please post me stories etc. so I can prepare the report.
Have a great week
