Scores for Saturday 25 September 2021
Perfect conditions for Golf this weekend with no wind and nice warm if somewhat overcast conditions. All managed to make it to the course despite the panic buying of fuel. I personally had to fill up on the way back from Norfolk on Friday so was not concerned, however I realised it would be easy to get stuck in queue on the way in. Hopefully this latest crazy faze will pass quickly!
Scores were generally good today with all but two players scoring 30 or more. Sadly the two who didn't brought the average down to 30.75. Average gross score was 93.5.
Only two birdies today: Steve Reynolds (1) and Peter Creighton (18). Well done gents.
Now Peter's birdie on the 18th is worth a mention. He fatted his tee shot around 60 yards then hit a 5 wood to just off the green, 10 yards to the right of the pin. He sunk his put for what must go down as a spectacular birdie. A new approach to the 18th, food for thought gents.
Our winner today managed 4 x 4 pointers today on what was generally a steady card. Roger Small went out in 17 points and back in 25!! There was a moment on the 5th where Roger mis-spoke his score of 7/2, forgetting that he was playing with his provisional after slicing a drive out of bounds, but this was duly corrected and it remained the only blob on Roger's card. Also, worth noting that I corrected the scorecard to apply the 32 shot cap, this wasn't done when I applied the new handicap calculation. Well done Roger, a good round.
Paul "the Champ" Gardner took second place with 33 points on countback from Andy Simpkin. Well done Paul.
Martin Deery took the front 9 with 20 points, a change from his usual favourite of taking the back 9. Well done Martin.
Last but by no means least, thanks to a splendid birdie on the 18th, Peter Creighton takes the back 9 with 18 points. Well done Peter.
Exciting week next week, some of us get to play 3 rounds in 3 days. Really looking forward to getting away for the Early Birds Autumn Cup 2021 at Wokefield Park.
Have a great week gents, try not to be too glum about the Ryder Cup, we could turn it round?
