Scores for Saturday 4 September 2021
Another grey day at Aldwickbury and no rain means the course is getting harder under foot making it more difficult to decide what the right club to take on a hole is. Of course it doesn't matter what club you take if you play like I did today, they were all rubbish. My only consolations for today were (1) Cobblers won against the mighty Scunthorpe (2-0) and (2) Duncan scored as badly as I did meaning I wasn't bottom of the scoresheet today, he only played 9 holes however so bit of a hollow victory that one.
Thanks to Martin Lythgoe for this image entitled "Two balls into the trees on 4. Bouncing out into the same spot." although I wasn't exactly sure about the narrative. Was it two balls hit by the same person, two balls hit by different people, two balls thrown out of the bushes by a passing rambler? Anyway, whatever the point of the picture, it's given me an interesting photoshop candidate for the 2021 collection. Cheers Martin.
I'll be brief today an get straight into the scores due to a rather busy schedule. Martin D and I are in the Copper Cup today and I need to start my pre-match routine.
The average score was very average today at 29.9 points with only 4 players peeking above the 30 point line. Gross average was 94.5 due to a tighter range of scores than normal.
I'd look forward to hearing about our winner's round, he normally saves his luck for the mid-week swindle but decided to bring it with him today. Tony Froud wins on countback from Martin Deery with 37 points. Tony was lucky that Martin is saving his best golf for today and left a few out there today perhaps. Well done Tony,
Martin Deery of course takes second place with 37 points. Well done Martin.
Peter Creighton was on fire on the front 9 but sadly fell apart on the back 9 as his back 9 score of 8 sadly reflects. Peter did manage 19 points on the front 9 to take the front 9 prize this week. Well done Peter.
Pete Laurence took the back 9 with 17 points. Pete was steady around the course but had a bit of a hiccup on the 9th hole, finding the first bunker to the left of the green he decided to use it as a practice bunker again and again and again. Well done Pete.
Charity day next week so no swindling. Have a great week all and good luck to those playing in the Copper cup today, especially Martin Deery and I!
It was just another steady round. Cocked up the 17th with a big hook of the tee but managed to keep Martin at bay for a rare win!!
