Perfect conditions this morning, slightly hazy sunshine with a little bit of a chill became warm sunshine with a cooling breeze as the round progressed. The course was in good condition but the greens were definitely causing difficulties for some.

The highlight of the round for me today was playing with Andy. After 5 holes I'd only putted a couple of times more than he'd blobbed holes. It got better after hole 5 where he tripled his points tally with a 2 pointer on 6. The wheels really came off on the front 9 and his trolley decided to join in with the wheel coming off on the 9th hole. Andy managed 8 on the front 9, his record of 12 points for a round was starting to look less likely. His woes continued on the back 9 with Andy scoring 10 points with 3 blobs, 2 one pointers and 4 two pointers. 7 blobs over all Andy!

Andy is having a bad run since losing on day 2 at Greetham Valley and today I'd like to say that he was having bad luck, but sadly that would be untrue, he just didn't play well!

"This is a round to forget" exclaimed Andy towards the end of the back 9, quite the contrary Andy, it was a round that I'll never forget. His putting was particularly memorable. He played the greens like they were Augusta speed and came up short on many occasions.

Picture shows Andy (Mr Blobby) posing at the end of the round.

We were down to 11 players this morning with a few drop outs due to double booking, illness and deciding to do something else.

The conditions seemed perfect but it would seem that from the scoring they were perhaps less than perfect. The average stableford score was 29.91 and the average gross score 91.6. However, only one person scored over 100 today, yes you've guessed it....

A new feature today, I added a count of the various scores to the scoreboard. There were 4 birdies, 45 pars, 87 bogies and 62 double-bogey or worse. You'll see on the scoreboard the summaries and you can see your own summary against your score line.

Birdies today went to yours truly (2 and 14) and James Miller (9 and 17) Well done!

The winner today was myself with 36 points. My putting was helpful today with me getting a number of puts close in from off the green and sinking two puts from off the green, one for the birdie on 2 and the other from the fringe at the top of the green on 4. Well done me!

Martin Deery came second with 34 points. Well done Martin.

Pete Laurence came 3rd overall and took the front 9 on countback from Paul Gardner with 19 points.

Peter Creighton took the back 9 with 14 points, again on countback from Paul Gardner! Well done Peter.

The combination cup next week, good luck to all those taking part!
