Scores for Saturday 20 August 2022
Back to the normal August weather this weekend. Some sunshine, some clouds, some wind and a hint of rain in the air. Personally I found it a relief after the recent heat although my golf didn't really reflect that.
Birdies were scarce today, probably as a result of the difficult greens: Pete Laurence (9) and Tony Froud (8) well done both!
Our winner today posts his first win of the season. James has managed a second and a couple of back 9s before today but his first numero uno came today courtesy of a solid round of 78 resulting in 37 points, beating Martin Deery on countback. Well done James!
Of course Martin Deery managed second place with a solid 37 points, failing to drive home his advantage on the last hole. Well done Martin, a winning score on most Saturdays!
The front 9 went to Tony who posted 20 points on the first 8 holes before falling apart and only managing 8 points on the next 10 holes!!!! That's an average of 2.5 points for 8 holes followed by an average of 0.8 for the next 10, quite a contrast. Unlucky Tone, just not your day I guess but well done on a fantastic 8 holes of golf!
The back 9 goes to our most decorated back 9er in recent history! You have to go back to 2018 to find someone who's won more back 9s in a season (Peter Creighton with 7) and the season's not even finished yet. Yes Roger Gibbs won the back 9 AGAIN with 19 points missing out on that elusive first place finish by 1 point! If only one of those nearly puts had actually gone in today Roger! Anyway, well done Roger, a really good round that deserved more!
Have a wonderful week gentlemen, see you next week for some bank holiday weekend golfing!!
