We got away with just the tail end of storm Otto this week so while it was windy it was very playable. Personally I missed out due to food poisoning on Friday night left me feeling a little washed out throughout Saturday but I'm on the mend as I write this.

As always, I'm very happy to relay stories from the course and this one was definitely worth sharing. I think the following image may come in handy....

The infamous MetroGnome swung his club on the 11th tee and unusually found the first bunker rather than the middle of the fairway. He proceeded (again uncharacteristically) to hit his second and third shots into the same bunker. What's going on I hear you say, I know right! Anyway, it got worse! His next shot managed to get out of the first bunker only to find the next bunker. At this stage I'm sure you're having trouble believing this story but I'm told by the man himself it's true. Now, for Roger's benefit, he's taken 4 shots to this point meaning all is not quite lost. His next shot really needs to be within 3 feet of the pin so he can have a hope of making 6 for a point. He doesn't get it there. Instead he's 15 foot short of the green. Nothing to lose he thinks and rather than trying the conventional chip and run straight at the pin, he elects for choosing Andy's ball as a target and rely on his many years of experience in the 60s in smoky pool bars. He chips on, ricochets off Andy's ball straight into the hole.

Now, hopefully the picture makes sense :-)

Averages still not so good this week, not helped by Paul's back 9. Average gross score was 92.7 and average stableford score was 29.18.

Only 3 birdies this week: Richard Hyne (14) Roger Gibbs (9) and Paul Gardner (3) Well done gents

Our winner today takes only his second victory since joining the early birds. No doubt refreshed after his winter boot camp in Oz, Steve Brewerton shot 82 gross to earn 37 points and take the first place as clear outright winner. Well done Steve!

LuckyTonE managed 34 points to take second place. Well done Tony!

Pete Laurence took the front 9 with 18 points. Well done Pete.

Richard Hyne took the back 9 with 15 points.

Hopefully the sunshine we're experiencing today (Sunday) will continue for next week.
