Yes the similarities are quite striking - the hat, the top, the kneeling on the course to pray for divine intervention. I'm afraid that's where the similarities end. The top picture is of course Tiger Woods, possibly having one of his off days, the bottom picture is none other than Roger Small. This was Roger's approach to not being beaten by his sciatica pain. His scoring on the front 9 was excellent for 7 holes, playing within himself clearly having some very positive outcomes. It went down hill after that unfortunately but well done Roger for getting around despite the obvious discomfort.

The turnout this week was excellent with 15 players turning out on what was a very cold morning with a brisk northerly wind to keep us chilled. The impact was that it was difficult to stay warm and the wind was not helping the golf either.

We had 1 birdie this week or should I say I had a birdie on 9. Well done me.

Our winner today was clearly inspired by a mistake in the scorecard setup, something worth some statistical analysis perhaps. I received a text part way through our front 9 that Pete Creighton seems to have been setup as Pete Laurence. Pete Creighton was clearly spurred on by the 8 handicap he received on the card and went on to score 90 gross off a 24 handicap, netting him 41 points!! Well done Peter, good to see your handicap peaking early this year.

In second place, another inspiration was from the scorecard where Andy Simpkin "appeared" to be playing off scratch. Investigation showed that someone had gone in to the cards to correct Andy's name (accidentally?) to Andy Simpkin As Ole! I chuckled to myself and duly corrected the "error" although it was tempting to leave it as is. It was funnier to hear that Andy was so wrapped up in congratulating himself on his own standard of play that he failed to even notice that Pete Creighton was scoring better than him and he could only manage second place despite an excellent 39 points. Well done Andy for a solid second place!

The Metrognomic swing was back on the front 9 resulting in Paul Gardner winning the front 9 with 18 points from Roger Small, we think Roger didn't pray enough on the 8th or 9th holes otherwise it couldhave been a different story. Well done Paul.

The back 9 was taken by Peter Williams with a solid 19 points. Well done Peter.

Hopefully next week will be a bit warmer than this week. Have a good week gents. SYS.
