The heat finally normalised after some extraordinarily hot days and despite there having been some rain the course is in a pretty baked condition. Dry and dusty is how if feels and you're lucky if you get a favourable lie in the middle of the fairway. The school holidays have now started so I'm sure we'll have lots of rain to come over the next six weeks!

A brief report today as not much to remark on for my part, a good paced early round for us in fair to warm conditions with some fairly unremarkable golf.

14 players turned out today with the average gross score back up to 94.6 and the average stableford score down at 29.43 helped by a 19 from Paul Gardner (PG has so far declined to comment) and Peter Creighton who attempted a reversal of  the numbers of last weeks score to come home with 24. Taking a small sample (last 4 games) it appears that our double or worse count of 95 is much higher than normal as a percentage of scores posted. We normally are heavy on bogies but I guess the course was winning this week.[Update 08:20 - PG did complete the round and blobbed the last 6 holes!! I think the our Summer league team needs a boot camp!]

Birdies today for Jock Hunter (9) Steve Reynolds (10 and 17) and Richard Hyne 18. Well done gentlemen.

Our winner today is Jock Hunter with a steady 35 points on count back from Tony Froud who was not feeling so lucky today. Well done Jock!

Well done Tony for a 35 pointer in second place!

Roger "I can only play half a round these days" Gibbs took the front 9 with 19 points. Well done Roger, keep plugging away and the full round will come!

Pete Laurence shot 3 over on the back 9 to post a score of 19 - 6 pars, 3 bogies, pretty good on any card I'd say. Well done Pete.

Special thankyou for Jock, Tony and particularly Pete for preventing Andy getting 1st, 2nd or back 9!

Have a wonderful week gents, see you next week!
