Aldwickbury Park Early Birds

Weather was mainly dry with a few showers towards the end of the round and a bit chilly to start with. Course was playing quite difficult due to the greens having been hollow tined, they were quite bumpy and many felt the holes were crowned, quite a few near misses with the ball turning away at the last moment. A few dropouts and two playing in the Valentine Pairs otherwise a good sized field. A very good round by Richard today with a score of 36 points, Tony had a great front nine but collapsed somewhat on the back nine but took second which allowed Martin Deery to take the front 9. Roger Small, after a poor start, finished well and took the back nine. Headline : Martin Deery had a swathe of pink scores mainly due to him not playing much this year. A low Stableford scoring day today even though the weather was kind to us. The rain only came on the last two holes and the course was playing well.  The average gross score today was 94.38 points and the average Stableford score was 27.92. Best gross of the day was from Richard Hyne and Pete Laurence with 84. Not much news today although Paul had a good run from holes 3 to 5 with a birdie followed by two pars. This was exceeded by Richard who additionally pared the sixth and seventh holes. Paul hit a great shot into four with his ball landing 9 inches from the hole before it rolled away to four feet or so, Jason proceeded to chip on, with his ball ending up in Paul's pitch mark.
