A few admin tasks to start with.

One, would all members of the swindle please inform us in good time that they are not playing, one group was left with only two players after a member failed to turn up, we could have gone out as two four balls had we known.

Two, please don't send messages on WhatsApp and 05:59 just as the bookers are attempting to book. We missed one tee time today because of it.

On the golf course we were down to eight players due to illness, no shows and weather watchers. The weather was actually really good, a bit winding at times but no rain to speak of.

Well done to Steve Brewerton who put in a solid round to win on 34 points. Pete Laurence also had a great round going but stuttered over the last three holes.

Great front nine by Steve Brewerton with 19 points but as he won 15 points took it. Peter Creighton taking the honours there.

Back nine went to James with 17 points well deserved as it contained three birdies.

A great chip in by Roger Gibbs on the 5th and an unlikely sandy par for Paul on the 7th were two highlights from the first group. 

With one week to go Peter Creighton now has un unassailable lead in both the Race to De Bar and the Player Of The Year, well done Peter a great year.

The average gross score today was 90.63 points and the average Stableford score was 29.13.

Best gross of the day was from Pete Laurence and James Miller with 85.

There were 0 Eagles or better today.

There were 3 birdies today.

James Miller with 3 on holes 11, 15 and 16. Well done James.

Our winner today with 34 points was Stephen Brewerton.
In second place on 31 points was Pete Laurence.
The front 9 went to Peter Creighton with 15 points.
The back 9 went to James Miller with 17 points.

Middle of the green today! Windy again today, but that wasn't a problem! A nice warm brisk breeze from the south made it seem like we were driving into the wind for the most part today but we seemed to cope ok with that, it was the greens that were the problem. Even the best puts today were coming up short or swerving from the hole. All of them spent more time in the air than on the ground just bobbling along.  13 players set out today but only 12 returned. Jock was lost somewhere along the way leaving a 2-ball to wait patiently behind our 4 ball. Steve and Martin both made the most of the extra time they had (see below) Average scores were not great: 99.25 average gross score and 26.25 average stableford score. Judging from what I saw the putting was the biggest contributor to extra shots.  Only 2 birdies today. Martin Lythgoe on 10 and Brian Geddes on 18. Well done both! Still the extra time that Steve Reynolds had as a result helped him refocus for his back 9 and he came in...

  Ball hunting was the game this week, at least for some of our number. The rough has thickened given the recent rain and sunshine combination and it's making it very hard to find balls that find their way in, not ideal for our standard of golf. This combined with the firming up of the course would make ideal conditions for our one and only metro-gnome and it looked like he was in the hunt on the front 9 until his groin gave out following the other side effect of good weather, gardening duty. I have a sign for you Paul, refer to it on Thursdays or Fridays.... Anyway rest up and we'll see you back to form in no time.  The weather this week was stunning, summer having followed us back from Menorca, thankfully the wind hasn't followed us! The course is in fantastic shape but they have let the greens grow out a bit making putting pace a bit tricky to judge. I'm sure this resulted in a few shots left out there this week, it did in our group.  Average scores this week reflect...

  Due to Brian moving in the next few weeks the newsletter team is looking for a person to assist with the production of this newsletter, do you have the skills required, a flair for an arty production, at least a grade C in English Language 'O' level or GCSE. Please make contact. No interview required and no remuneration provided, what more could you want? Anyway on to the golf.................... The day started out a bit chilly but turned into a beautiful day. The course was in fabulous condition with the bunkers that were in play in a good state. Lots of work going on around the course with a number of bunkers being worked on and the removal of the old winter green on the second, how many more will disappear I wonder?  A chip in for Andy Simpkin on the 6th to make a par even though it was a thinned shot, but I won't mention that.
