I have been on holiday for a week, when we left a week ago it was warm and getting warmer when we got back it's bloody cold.

Good to hear that the ropes have been removed.

Roger Small and Jock Hunter are now Handicap Stewards.

The role of the Handicap Stewards is to serve as a liaison between any gentleman player and the Handicap Committee. Their main responsibilities include:

• Facilitate communication between players and the Handicap Committee.
• Players can approach the stewards with any queries concerning handicap issues.
• Stewards will monitor Swindle and General Play rounds to ensure their handicaps accurately reflect their current playing abilities.
• Where relevant, relay information from the Handicap Committee to the players to ensure timely resolution of any issues.

Looks like Coenraad had a good day taking first place with 38 points followed by Jock on 36.

Jocks nickname was Jock the Knocker, we will let you guess why he was called that, but he knocked one in from 100 yards on the 1st hole for birdie!

Jason spent more time in the sand than David Hasselhoff! Richard kindly pointed out to him how bad golf attracts bad luck, which sums up Jason’s day!

The average gross score today was 96.81 points and the average Stableford score was 26.69.

Best gross of the day was from Peter Williams with 81.

There were 0 Eagles or better today.

There were 3 birdies today.

Coenraad Fourie with 1 on hole 18.
Jock Hunter with 1 on hole 1.
Peter Williams with 1 on hole 9.

Our winner today with 38 points was Coenraad Fourie.
In second place on 36 points was Jock Hunter.
The front 9 went to Andrew Simpkin with 15 points.
The back 9 went to Peter Williams with 20 points.

The day started out a bit chilly but turned into a beautiful day. The course was in fabulous condition with the bunkers that were in play in a good state. Lots of work going on around the course with a number of bunkers being worked on and the removal of the old winter green on the second, how many more will disappear I wonder?  A chip in for Andy Simpkin on the 6th to make a par even though it was a thinned shot, but I won't mention that.   Ball hunting was the game this week, at least for some of our number. The rough has thickened given the recent rain and sunshine combination and it's making it very hard to find balls that find their way in, not ideal for our standard of golf. This combined with the firming up of the course would make ideal conditions for our one and only metro-gnome and it looked like he was in the hunt on the front 9 until his groin gave out following the other side effect of good weather, gardening duty. I have a sign for you Paul, refer to it on Thursdays or Fridays.... Anyway rest up and we'll see you back to form in no time.  The weather this week was stunning, summer having followed us back from Menorca, thankfully the wind hasn't followed us! The course is in fantastic shape but they have let the greens grow out a bit making putting pace a bit tricky to judge. I'm sure this resulted in a few shots left out there this week, it did in our group.  Average scores this week reflect...

It was good to be back on our home course after visiting Donnington Valley last weekend, I will never complain about the slopes on ours again. The greens were in excellent condition today, unfortunately the ropes have been put up to protect the approaches and it is a long walk from your trolly when you end up short of the green. The weather was fairly kind to us today with a few showers towards the end. A small field of only 9 players with no outrageous scores. The course was fairly empty today and we had a leisurely four hour round. An excellent score from Steve Reynolds today to take first place, not the bridesmaid on this occasion. Martin Lythgoe asked for a picture of the colourful bruise he inflicted on me last Monday, he said it was for his wife. I (Paul), thought I was playing well today after a reasonable front nine but 1 point from the first four holes on the back put paid to any hope of winning anything.
