Course playing well with some deep rough where the old bunkers were. It was expected that the new bunkers would be in play by the end of the month but the greenkeepers say the turf around the top is not rooted well enough yet so they will hold off having them in play for now. Many greens suffering from pitch marks that are now diseased leaving small brown patches.

Well done to Peter Creighton with the best gross today and a superb 39 points 7 points ahead of second place. Peter was in my group and certainly deserved the win.

A lot of zero an ones on the score card today, especially mine (Paul), I only had three points after 5 holes and both Roger S and myself took 7 holes to amass 5 points. In fact 45% of our holes played today yielded a zero or one points score.

"Stevie B on the 12 tee shot into the deep rough on the left. Tops a provisional about 40 yards. Finds the first ball, hacks it out over the hedge. Stuffs the approach into the greenside bunker. Duffs the bunker shot and barely clears the lip. Then chips down onto the green, rolls it gently over the hump and into the hole for 5.

I hit an 8 iron off the tee leaving 250. Hit a 5 iron between the trolleys of the group in front 🤗 to the front edge and 3 putted for the same"

Next week is the Foxhunter trophy which is a MedalFord format so a mix if Medal and Stableford, a competition which James normally excels at. There are a number of our group competing so good luck to them all. 

The average gross score today was 95.00 points and the average Stableford score was 28.43.

Best gross of the day was from Peter Creighton with 86.

There were 0 Eagles or better today.

There were 4 birdies today.

Our winner today with 39 points was Peter Creighton.
In second place on 32 points was Pete Laurence.
The front 9 went to Coenraad Fourie with 16 points.
The back 9 went to Richard Hyne with 19 points.

The weather today was calm and dry. Some tricky pin positions with the 14th being the worst. The fairways have not improved a whole lot but not too dissimilar to Burhill which a few of us played earlier in the week. Good weather greeted us on Saturday and the course is starting to look better. Fairways are starting to grow back after a week of on and off rain. Greens more receptive and greens a little slower. New bunkers are looking great, excellent work by the Neary's and by the greenkeeping staff. Filled in bunkers are much better than the grassed depressions we have been accustomed to in the past. I (Paul) especially like the changes to the 14th, also the 3rd is looking great. 17th has a lot of work going on around the green with large areas of G.U.R.  Well done to Paul for his win today he sunk some good putts. Yet again the weather was kind to the golfers today, hot and dry but the course is suffering. Great win for Jason with a commendable 38 points and a good 2nd place for Jock on 36 points. Unfortunately Jock's Summer league playing partners were not playing but it did not matter, more of which later. Reports from the players on the course. From Roger Gibbs "Ok on 5th hole, I’d driven into the rough just short of the bunkers. Mr Hyne, having played golf with me for 9 years, jeopardised his life by walking 40 yards in front of me off to the left. Of course, I didn’t connect properly and the ball arrived towards him bouncing a couple of times on the way. A body swerve and a dive to the right with his bag on his shoulder evaded the potential life threatening golf ball.
