Weather was great today, no rain and no wind and the greens were soft. Course looking great with grass cut in the newly filled in old bunkers. Much thinning out of the ground on the left of the 1st fairway.

Three members of the group attended the Course Improvement Plan presentation put on by the club to respond to the comments made by members. This was a good turn out with around 60 members attending. The club provided wine, cheese and biscuits with the meeting lasting two hours. Each hole was discussed and with the 1st hole taking 20 minutes it looked like it was going to be a long night, things did however speed up. There was much discussion about the resiting of various bunkers and tree removal, it appeared to centre on the average golfer hitting their drives 260yds! It would appear that bunkers had been moved to that distance and any tree that then impeded the line of site to the green would be removed. Hopefully the resistance from members will be taken into account.  

On to today's golf, a great win for Peter Laurence with 38 points knocking Steve Reynolds into second place on count back, Steve had a superb front nine of 37 shots and 22 points, one over par. This must be one of our lowest ever. Well done Steve, back to the bridesmaid spot.

We also have to mention James scoring the lowest gross today of 77, two birdies and not winning a thing.

The average gross score today was 91.15 points and the average Stableford score was 31.15.

Best gross of the day was from James Miller with 77.

There were 0 Eagles or better today.

There were 7 birdies today.

James Miller with 2 on holes 9 and 13.
Peter Williams with 2 on holes 9 and 12.
Pete Laurence with 1 on hole 12.
Steve Reynolds with 1 on hole 9.
Coenraad Fourie with 1 on hole 12.

Our winner today with 38 points was Pete Laurence.
In second place on 38 points was Steve Reynolds.
The front 9 went to Coenraad Fourie with 19 points.
The back 9 went to Peter Williams with 20 points.

The weather today was calm and dry. Some tricky pin positions with the 14th being the worst. The fairways have not improved a whole lot but not too dissimilar to Burhill which a few of us played earlier in the week. Good weather greeted us on Saturday and the course is starting to look better. Fairways are starting to grow back after a week of on and off rain. Greens more receptive and greens a little slower. New bunkers are looking great, excellent work by the Neary's and by the greenkeeping staff. Filled in bunkers are much better than the grassed depressions we have been accustomed to in the past. I (Paul) especially like the changes to the 14th, also the 3rd is looking great. 17th has a lot of work going on around the green with large areas of G.U.R.  Well done to Paul for his win today he sunk some good putts. Of note group 3 had all four players on 34 points coming to the last. Stories from the course John James to Steve Reynolds "You have a very Christian swing" , we think he meant crisp. Today was the Earlybirds Christmas party, pleasant weather greeted the golfers with the Sun actually coming out to warm us up towards the end of the round. The question on everybody's lips was could Paul Gardner win for a third year in a row. Rumour has it he was allowed to win in previous years as nobody wanted to arrange the following year's party. This year Paul was drawn in the last group to make it harder for the other players to watch his score. Paul was drawn with Peter C and Luck Tony. Tony playing a very steady round until he somewhat collapsed on the last, probably worrying that he may win. He managed to grab second place on count back from Roger Gibbs, three player tied on 35 points. Paul tried his best but low scores on 8, 9, 10 and 11 put paid to his chances.
