Scores for Saturday 13 December 2025
The weather started foggy, this delayed our start and made spotting our golf balls difficult until the seventh hole. On the positive side we had no rain or wind. It turned into a very pleasant day for all.
Judging by the scores many struggled out there. Excellent gross of 84 for Steve Reynolds looking like he may win but struggled on the last three holes and let Roger Gibbs in for the win. Both score 33 points but Roger wins on count back.
This is Roger's first Earlybirds Major. Roger was ecstatic about that but not looking forward to organising next year, that all changed when Hollie turned up and he managed to book next year's in about 2 minutes!
Next year is booked for 12th December, more details to follow.....
Not much news from the golf course, I had the longest drive until the last group when allegedly they all beat me by miles.
Andy Simpkin, in the first group, hit a glorious shot to the third green into the fog which glowed in the sunlight as it rose above the fog. Dan extoled "Graced by God in its way to the hole". This was in fact the nearest the pin so obviously was touched by God. Later in the club house on a possibly unrelated note, Coenraad said "He did well to get inside me"
All the nearest the pin and longest drive markers were made out for Aldwicks Society, new guy in the Pro Shop didn't know who we were and assumed as we all looked old we must be part of the Aldwicks.
Congratulations to all the winners!

My (Paul) superb shot into the 10th green which pitched 2inches (5cm) away from the hole and came to rest somewhat further away, managed to miss the putt.
Many thanks to Coenraad for organising it all went very well.
Scores for this event are not put into the Archive so will not form part of the POTY or the Race to Debar. They also do not affect the Eclectics. May be something to look at for the coming year.
