Another hot day on the course both with the weather and the scoring, well at least for one person!

As you can see from this overhead shot of the 4th Green the fairways are scorched but we are not alone all courses in the area are suffering the same fate. The following article from the Times shows more overhead shots from around the area. No let up insight over the next two weeks looking at the weather forecasts.


So back to the golf, a depleted field this week with only eight players, the CBL took four of our players this week although Steve Reynolds had to pull out at the last moment due to injury. Hope you get better for the Autumn cup in a few weeks Steve.

Well done to the bookers this week especially those that don't normally book but stood up and had a go. As we now have only sixteen player it is quite difficult to ensure we have enough each week so please put your name forward, it's not that difficult. 

Lowest gross score of the day was Jock on 90, so we had no players scoring less than 90.

The runaway leader this week leading by a clear 10 shots was Roger Small, an amazing round today. Looking at My England Golf this is Roger's lowest gross score since his 96 on 5th June 2021, well done Roger. Obviously didn't lose as many golf balls like the rest of us, the rock hard fairways means that you never quite know where your ball will end up even after a good shot.  

A great front nine for John James scoring 21 points to take the front 9 prize. A fabulous chip in par on the 9th gave John his second four pointer of the front 9.  Good to see John go round all 18 holes this week and be able to socialize at the end.

The twelfth was a popular hole to score a birdie today with both Steve and myself doing it in the same group, well done us and Coenraad.

The average gross score today was 97.00 and the average Stableford score was 30.88.

Best gross of the day was from Jock Hunter with 90.

There were 0 Eagles or better today.

There were 3 birdies today.

Coenraad Fourie with 1 on hole 12.
Stephen Brewerton with 1 on hole 12.
Paul Gardner with 1 on hole 12.

Our winner today with 42 points was Roger Small.
In second place on 32 points was Coenraad Fourie.
The front 9 went to John James with 21 points.
The back 9 went to Paul Gardner with 18 points.

Glorious weather greeted us today and the last group was Jason Landau, James Miller, Peter Creighton and Peter Williams who would be our winner? An early start of 9:30am would mean we finish at a reasonable hour and we would not catch any traffic on the way home. The course was much quieter than yesterday and we managed to get around in just over four hours. Duncan did not even attempt to play golf today but became the roving photographer giving us a good shot of Martin Deery getting the nearest the pin on 17. Weather today was good no rain, no wind, course lookin excellent, another week or so and the new bunkers should be in play. Two injured or unwell players didn't make it so get well soon to John and Stevie B. The fairway definition is much better however between the fairway and the thick rough the edges have been cut with two opposingly cut 1metre wide strips. These make the actual fairways very narrow in places, players are also not sure if these strips are still fairway, I believe not but we could do with some clarification from the club as we currently have pick and place in action, does that include these strips? A good day for birdies with 10 in total, hole 14 in its new configuration, giving away seven pars from the 14 players. Martin L putted in from off the green in the dip on hole 2 for a great birdie. The weather was not kind to us today and we had a number of dropouts. It rained for most of our round, which no doubt affected our scores. Today we were joined by Brian, it was good to see Brian and Emma again, we hope Brian enjoyed his golf and the changes to the course. Excellent round by James today with a gross 79, 34 points and four birdies. Richard has now moved to the top of the Player Of The Year table on 26 points but it's still all to play for with two weekends to play with eleven players able to win, although some of those will need two wins. Richard also leads the money list. On the course we now have a robot cutting the fairway on the 8th. Appeared to be doing a good job.
