The weather was very kind to us today, dry with a light wind. The few days of rain we have had have turned the course green. The tee boxes looking very good and fairways to, as long as you don't look to closely. Talked to greenkeeper Kenny and he said they would be spiking the fairways and overseeding so hopefully that will improve things.

The next phase of bunker renovations are due to start on Monday 14th September, and are scheduled to last 3 weeks.

The holes affected are 1, 5, 6 & 7, in addition to this the old bunker on the 3rd hole which had pooling water over the winter, will have drainage installed to resolve this issue.

A very up and down day for some with the winners not being decided until the early evening. This being due to some incorrect scores being entered for both Roger S and Martin D. I myself went from not winning anything, to winning something and then to not winning anything.

Some of the confusion came on the ninth for group three where all but Martin went into a bunker, while they all tried to exit the bunker they missed Martin's superb par, driver, 7 iron  and two putts apparently.

Congratulations goes to Coenraad with a fine 34 points on countback from Martin D and Andy. Andy had the best front nine with 19 points, well done Andy and well done Roger S for 18 points on the back nine. Roger is playing well at the moment and if it hadn't been for his no score on 18 he would have won. I saw Roger hit a great shot from the last fairway bunker onto the green, unfortunately that was his sixth shot.

One thing to take away from this is please check your scores carefully it's not all down to the electronic scorer.

We are also struggling for bookers so please put your names down to share the load. 

The average gross score today was 92.30 and the average Stableford score was 31.00.

Best gross of the day was from Richard Hyne with 87.

There were 0 Eagles or better today.

There were 4 birdies today.

Richard Hyne with 1 on hole 12.
Paul Gardner with 1 on hole 12.
Dan Smith with 1 on hole 12.

Our winner today with 34 points was Coenraad Fourie.
In second place on 34 points was Martin Deery.
The front 9 went to Andrew Simpkin with 19 points.
The back 9 went to Roger Small with 18 points.

Glorious weather greeted us today and the last group was Jason Landau, James Miller, Peter Creighton and Peter Williams who would be our winner? An early start of 9:30am would mean we finish at a reasonable hour and we would not catch any traffic on the way home. The course was much quieter than yesterday and we managed to get around in just over four hours. Duncan did not even attempt to play golf today but became the roving photographer giving us a good shot of Martin Deery getting the nearest the pin on 17. Weather today was good no rain, no wind, course lookin excellent, another week or so and the new bunkers should be in play. Two injured or unwell players didn't make it so get well soon to John and Stevie B. The fairway definition is much better however between the fairway and the thick rough the edges have been cut with two opposingly cut 1metre wide strips. These make the actual fairways very narrow in places, players are also not sure if these strips are still fairway, I believe not but we could do with some clarification from the club as we currently have pick and place in action, does that include these strips? A good day for birdies with 10 in total, hole 14 in its new configuration, giving away seven pars from the 14 players. Martin L putted in from off the green in the dip on hole 2 for a great birdie. Today was the last swindle game of the year so it brings a close to the competitions we run during the year. Player of the year Race to de Bar Gross Eclectic Stableford Eclectic Many people today said it was cold but not for Steve Reynolds, he was on fire with a very impressive 77 gross and 39 points beating second place Richard by 10 points. Probably some of the lowest Stableford scores of the year. Another year of golf comes to an end and it's time to announce the winners of both the Player of The Year and the Race to De Bar. Player of the year     The winner of Player of The Year is Richard Hyne well done Richard winning by four points from Jason and Jock. Race to de Bar The winner of Race to De Bar is Richard Hyne well done Richard winning £60 net. That is Richard's first win of either competition a rise from 10th and 15th places from last year.
