Scores for Saturday 11 June 2022
As the LIV golf tournament reaches a climax at Centurions golf club, the more important tournament was kicking off at Aldwickbury Park, the Swindle Challenge. With clear skies, brisk winds and the course getting to it's summer worst in terms of rough and run, it was set to be a challenging day indeed.
Just 11 players managed to make the cut this year with a few late drop-outs due to illness and competing fixtures, the field was a little stretched. The pressure was seemingly just too much for Pete Laurence, Jock, Coenraad and James who posted sub 30 scores. Jock thankfully didn't count for the challenge as he challenges with another group but the others did help to bring the average score down somewhat. We finished 4th out of 8 teams with the ladies team being victorious.
The average score without Jock was 30.3 (92 gross) so not the most competitive showing, had James not played it could've been up at 31.33. Obviously struggling with luck today!
Only 1 birdie in the field this week, Pete Laurence on 9. Well done Pete.
Our winner this week with a solid 36 points was Martin Deery. Martin nearly missed out due to an admin error but it was spotted and corrected in time. Well done Martin, good to see you back to winning ways.
In second place with a respectable 34 points is Roger Small. Well done Roger.
The front 9 went to Richard Hyne with a solid 18 points, matched only by todays winners! Well done Richard.
The back 9 went to the back 9 championship leader, Roger Gibbs. 4 back 9s this year makes Roger the most competitive back 9 player so far this year. Well done Roger.
Three weeks of club comps follow culminating in the Club Championships on 2 July. Good luck to all in the upcoming comps and have a great week.
