A great day's golf today weather was warm with a strong wind at times. The course is again running fast as we have not had any rain for a while. The greens were much harder and faster today as the sand on them is slowly disappearing. Nearly a full set of players today with 18 making the game, a profitable day to win. We have the JJ Cup coming up at the end of the month which I am sure we are all looking forward to and hoping the weather will last. Previous years have been a mixed bag. A great win for Jason today with 37 points narrowly beating Tony who had 36 points. Reports from our people on the course today. The weather was kind to us today, no wind and the expected rain failed to materialise.  This was our first weekend of the year off of the white tees, the scoring shows that it did not affect our scores with five people scoring 20 or more points on the front nine and four of 19 on the back nine. The winner today with a fantastic 40 points was Martin Deery with three zero point scores and a run of four pars from hole nine onwards. Well done Martin. Reports of many shots that hit the flag, I myself (Paul) had one on the 2nd and Steve B a great one on the 15th, Steve hit a poor tee shot onto the 16th fairway and then hit the trees with his second, the ball coming to rest behind the bunkers on the green side of the 16th, Steve then hit a great wood which bounded onto the green and hit the flag the ball coming to rest about 10 feet away from the pin. Unfortunately he failed to sink the putt for a four, one of many missed putts for Steve today. Excellent front nine team score for Group 4 ...

Weather was kind to us today, quite cold with, at times, a stiff wind. Course playing shorter and greens playing faster. All ropes gone except the 13 for some reason, no more winter wheels. Two bunkers now filled in on the 12th. Great round for James today to take the win with 40 points and a gross of 73. Some of the things said by his peers. "Amazing round today James. Well played. 40 points off 5??? That will be the best round of the year !!!" "One over Par!!! Hope everyone appreciates how amazing a round that is" "Bloody Nora! Imagine if he could chip" "No comment…." So regarding the chipping for James, not his best part of the game, today he replaced chipping by putting whenever he got near the green, even from the rough apparently. Obviously worked very well for him. Also some excellent front nine scores of 20 points. I have been on holiday for a week, when we left a week ago it was warm and getting warmer when we got back it's bloody cold. Good to hear that the ropes have been removed. Roger Small and Jock Hunter are now Handicap Stewards. The role of the Handicap Stewards is to serve as a liaison between any gentleman player and the Handicap Committee. Their main responsibilities include: • Facilitate communication between players and the Handicap Committee. • Players can approach the stewards with any queries concerning handicap issues. • Stewards will monitor Swindle and General Play rounds to ensure their handicaps accurately reflect their current playing abilities. • Where relevant, relay information from the Handicap Committee to the players to ensure timely resolution of any issues. After a week of on and off course closures we had a glorious day's golf. The day started cold with frost on some greens, this soon cleared. All bunkers were out of play due to the rain we had during the week. A good turn out of 14 players today. James and Duncan were playing in the Winter Foursomes final but unfortunately lost their match., well done for getting that far though. Scoring was generally not great with a low average Stableford. Dan was having a great round but it all collapsed on the back nine with too many visits to the undergrowth. Pete Laurence was a worthy winner today to help improve his win strike rate, no doubt the alignment of the planets worked for him. Jock coming in second was a surprise for him when I mentioned it on the eighteenth. Steve Brewerton a commendable back 9 win despite still nursing an injury. A solid front 9 win for Peter Creighton.
